在列多公路某處的康復營地裏，史迪威將軍脫帽對著一群中國退伍軍人講話。戰爭遺留下的傷殘軍人先在此學習新的生存技能——鐵匠、編織、木工等，然後離開軍旅回到平民生活。這個營地現在由中美共同管理經營，大約有兩百多名退伍士兵（全都有不同程度的傷殘）。
