1945年1月5日美軍陸戰隊橫渡緬甸境內河流

正當部隊向南追擊撤退日軍之時，隸屬於火神特遣隊的美軍機動醫療隊在緬甸密支那乘船渡過伊洛瓦底江。由受過叢林作戰訓練的步兵與炮兵組成的火神特遣隊與其他盟軍分遣隊於一九四四年十二月底開始直逼日軍位於緬甸中心地帶的重要補給基地曼德勒。

1/5/45American Troops Ferried Across River in Burma

American troops of aportable surgery unit,attached to the Mars Task Force,are ferried across the Irrawaddy river at Myitkyina,Burma,as the force presses south against the retreating Japanese.Comprised of jungle-trained U.S.infantry and artillerymen,the task force and other Allied detachments were threatening Mandalay major enemy supply center in the heart of Burma by the end of December,1944.
