An American Air Commando transport of U.S.Major General George E.Stratemeyer's Allied Eastern Air Command Combat Cargo Task Force circles slowly over the Irrawaddy River bridgehead before dropping supplies to the Allied troops driving the Japanese from Central Burma.From the bridgehead the Allies drove85miles southeast to capture Myitkyina and its strategic group of airfields.Meanwhile other Allied captured Mandalay,key enemy communications center,75miles north of Myitkyina.
