Troops of the U.S.Y-Force Operations Staff open fire on aJapanese plane from slit trenches on ahillside on the Salween River front in southwestern China.The Y-Force is participating with Chinese forces that on Sept.15th1944,forms ajunction with U.S.General Joseph W.Stilwell's troops driving from Burma.Ledo and Burma roads,followed the liberation by Chinese forces on Sept.14,of Tengchung,the first large Chinese city to be forced of Japanese rule in more than seven years of war.
